It is possible and even probable that the relationship to reality is learned by way of detours. There are avenues of reality-adaptation which, at first, certainly lead away from the real situation.
A form of adaptation where the subject attempts to change the environment when faced with a difficult situation, when an individual is presented with a stressful situation, he could react in one of two ways:
The subject tries to change himself. The internal environment.
The subject tries to change the situation. The external environment.
There are no longer any gods that we can invoke to help us. The great religions of the world suffer from increasing anemia because the helpful numina have fled from the woods, rivers, mountains, and the animals, and the god men have disappeared underground into the UNCONSCIOUS
